Coxigen decreases antihypertensive effect of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin II antagonists. Coxigen should not be administered with any dose of a non-aspirin NSAID due to increased risk of adverse reactions. The chronic use of Coxigen causes an increased risk of cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke. Coxigen should be used with caution in patients with hypertension. Coxigen can cause fluid retention and edema. It can also cause serious gastrointestinal events including bleeding, ulceration, and perforation of the stomach, small intestine or large intestine. Coxigen should be avoided in late pregnancy as it causes premature closure of the ductus arteriosus. Patients should be informed of the warning signs and symptoms of hepatotoxicity, which can occur during Coxigen treatment. The long-term administration of Coxigen can cause renal injury. Coxigen is not recommended for use by nursing mothers.

The recommended starting dosage of Celecoxib in Osteoarthritis is 200 mg per day administered as a single dose or as 100 mg twice daily.
