Indinavir when administered with ergot alkaloids can cause ergot toxicity. The risk of respiratory depression is increased when Indinavir is given along with sedatives or hypnotics. The use of Indinavir and herbal products or rifampin can cause a loss of virological response and development of resistance. The co-administration of Indinavir and HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors potentiates the incidence of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. The co-administration of Crixivan and atazanavir is not recommended.
