The concomitant administration of carbamazepine and Cefixime is not indicated. Cefixime is a broad spectrum antibiotic and it can cause development of resistance and growth of non-susceptible organisms. The prolonged use of Cefixime can result in the development of superinfection. Cefixime is not generally recommended for use by pregnant women and nursing mothers. The dose of Suprax should be lowered in patients with renal impairment and in patients who are undergoing dialysis. Suprax should be used with caution in individuals with a history of gastrointestinal disease. Suprax should be given with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment or poor nutritional state as Cefixime can cause a fall in prothrombin activity.
